CHRYSOPRASE (QUARTZ)

Chrysoprase means "golden apple" in Greek. It's best color is light to medium yellowish green or apple green, compareable to the fruit. The green hue comes from traces of nickel. Chrysoprase ist the most prized of all high-quality chalcedonies. It is usually semitransparent to translucent.
Some Chrysoprase's color is fading in strong sunlight. Best quality chryoprase is found in Queensland, Australia.
